The most dreaded part of travelling is packing your bags, especially so if you are a woman. Choosing the right clothes, shoes, accessories and toiletries that you would require for your trip often leaves you puzzled. Be it a quick weekend getaway or a big trip abroad, there are certain things that are absolutely necessary to carry and you would definitely want to make place for them in your luggage. Although at times you want to pack away every piece of your prized possession, it is highly advisable that you carry only those which you will ultimately require and are easy to carry. Try it once and you will experience the charm of travelling light and efficient. The following five items are the absolute must-haves while you are travelling.
- Flats: You may be a diehard lover of stilettos, but when it comes to travelling flat shoes are the safest choice. There are a wide range of flat shoes that you can choose from- ballet slippers, loafers, boat shoes, flat sandals and the likes. I’m sure none of you would want to be going around limping while you’re vacationing, thanks to those devious heels. Flats can be both comfortable and sexy, and you are bound to have a safer time in them while moving about in unsmooth terrain.
- Wristlet: A wristlet is the most important accessory while travelling. You can stuff into it all your necessary items like money, cards, passport and even your lipstick. You can easily carry your tiny wristlet in your travel tote during the day, while at night you can simply use it by itself. You can also use it as a clutch if you like. These wristlets come in a variety of styles with both detachable handles and chains.
- Sunglasses: A pair of sunglasses for women is a must when you are travelling. Even when the weather forecast predicts rain, you’ve got to carry your shades with you. Stylish glasses for women not only protect your eyes from the harmful rays of the sun, they are most efficient in giving you a trendy look overall. You are bound to look good and feel good sporting a stylish pair of shades. Choosing the perfect pair of sunglasses can often prove to be tricky. Always settle for one that provides the maximum protection from the harmful UV rays of the sun. You may also take help from a professional optician in this regard. Be sure to protect your glasses from severe scratches as the UV coating will then wear down, making the pair less protective. Buying an expensive pair of sunglasses will prove to be a solid investment that will stay with you for long. Shades look best when they are simple yet classy, thereby creating a fashion statement for you. Try to go for a vintage-inspired round frame to give yourself a classic trendy look.
- Travel Bags: A woman needs to carry a number of essentials with her when she is travelling. Due to this reason you will never see a woman carrying one main luggage. She will also have purses and tote bags with her, which when opened will reveal many other smaller bags inside! Naturally, travel bags for women come in a series of bags, each with its own purpose. For instance, a wash bag comes for the purpose of carrying toiletries like shampoo, shower gel etc. to carry in it. You can safely carry your cosmetic products in the makeup bag without the fear of them spilling on to other things. Similarly, you can put your jewellery inside a jewellery roll bag which can come either as a purse or a wrap. To put away your wet clothes when you are going for a swim, you can use a swim bag. This waterproof pouch will save your dry clothes from getting soiled while you are carrying both in your day bag.
- Hat: With spring and summer just round the corner, many of you must have started planning your vacations. A straw hat is an essential accessory when you are travelling in summer. A simple thing like a hat can have three advantages at the same time- while it saves your face from direct sunlight a hat also gives a smart and trendy look to your attire. At the same time you can occasionally save yourself from the trouble of doing your hair and instead put on a hat! After all, why waste your time on doing your hair when all you should be doing is enjoying the sun and sightseeing.
You may find packing a hat tricky. Here are a few easy tips you can follow-
- Begin with stuffing the crown of the hat with smaller items like underwear and bathing suits. Fill it up completely so that the crown maintains its shape.
- Next, lay down your hat on top of the larger items like clothes and shoes in the suitcase. Place other small items like makeup bag, toiletries etc. on the brim of the hat around the crown.
- Shut the case and start moving!
N.B. Always pack your hat in a suitcase or a duffel bag as you will not be scourging into it very often during the journey. Placing it in your personal handbag will disrupt its arrangement as things are constantly used from that bag.
